Around 1:50 pm today, a two-vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of Harvester and Powis. A passenger car veered off the road and impacted a tree, and a semi-truck continued traveling and eventually impacted a building. Upon impact, the semi-truck caught fire. The occupants of both vehicles were able to exit safely and were uninjured from the accident or subsequent impacts. Although the semi-truck struck the building and caught fire, the fire was extinguished quickly before it could spread inside the building. Some minor building systems were damaged and building representatives were working on making repairs. The building was posted Not Approved for Occupancy by the City of West Chicago due to the damage and disconnection of utilities.
