At approximately 1230 hrs on February 18, 2025, West Chicago Fire Protection District personnel were dispatched to a reported structure fire in 100 block of East Blair Street. While responding, Ducomm advised that an occupant was on the home's roof. Upon arrival, personnel encountered a small fire on the second floor with an occupant out on the front porch roof. The occupant and a dog were rescued from the roof by West Chicago Fire District personnel via their new ladder truck. The small fire was quickly extinguished, and all other occupants safely evacuated. One occupant of the residence was transported to an area hospital with a minor injury. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates are unavailable. The building was posted as not approved for occupancy due to the utilities being shut off during the fire. West Chicago Fire Protection District was assisted on the scene by the City of West Chicago Police Department and several area fire departments. |
