Fire Suppression

The Fire District runs 1 Battalion Chief, 2 Fire Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, and an airport suppression vehicle daily to aid in fire suppression.  These vehicles run 24/7 over three shifts that we call RED, BLACK, and GOLD shift.  A total of 42 members staff these vehicles.  The Fire District is a member of MABAS Division XIII.  The Fire DIstrict is also one of the founding members of the West Suburban Fire Rescue Alliance (WSFRA).

The WSFRA consists of West Chicago, Wheaton, Winfield, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, and Roselle fire departments.  The WSFRA is a functional cooperative that has common dispatch procedures, Standard Operating Guidelines, shared annual training program, and cooperative governance.  WSFRA members conduct hundreds of hours of training annually and seamlessly respond annually to thousands of all hazard incidents within the WSFRA region.  The structure fire response for the WSFRA includes 3 Engines, 3 Trucks, 3 Medics, 1 Heavy Rescue, and 5 Command Chiefs.  The heavy response is intended to front load a structure fire incident with enough personnel/equipment to perform simultaneous fireground tasks, establish RIT/EMS, and a set incident command framework to ensure the safety of operating personnel.
