FD Key Box – Knox Box

FD COMMERCIAL KEY BOX

Fire District ordinance requires Fire Department Key Boxes for all non-single/two family buildings.  The Fire District uses the Knox Box system which involves a case-hardened steel box that is mounted on the exterior of the building in a location approved by the Fire Marshal.  The key box lock is common to the other boxes in the District and the Fire District is the ONLY entity with access keys to the box.  The property owner provides buildings keys for placement within the box.  Use of the box assists the Fire District with minimizing damage due to forcible entry and helps to expedite response to emergency situations.

FD RESIDENTIAL KEY BOX

Knox Box Information - North Liberty Fire Department

The Fire District participates in the Knox Box residential key box program.  The program is voluntary for owners of one/two family buildings.  The residential key box program is aimed at residents that may have challenges providing building access to Fire District personnel during emergency situations (i.e. occupants with limited mobility or confinements due to medical conditions).
