The Fire Protection District is responsible for responding to disaster emergencies in our community. Several important aspects of disasters preparedness include early notification of potential disaster events and preparedness. The following information provides resources related to notification and preparedness.
NOTIFICATION
Weather alerts are issued by the National Weather Service (NWS). Click HERE for more information on NWS weather alerts. It is very important to have a cell phone app or a weather radio to recieve severe weather alerts.
The City of West Chicago has tornado sirens in key locations within the community. The sirens are activated by our Ducomm our 9-1-1 dispatch center. Click HERE for more information on Tornado Sirens. *Please note: Sirens are tested on the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.
